Weldon Baranabus Swayze (1890-1965), Born September 23, 1890 at Woodbury, Hamilton, Ontario, the second of eight children, son of a Dutch father, Schooley Swayze (1845-1940), and an English mother, Elizabeth Lillian Bush (1872-1909).
Theren is very little known about Weldon B. Swayze. Some of his records show a birthday of August 15, 1895, which does not align with other documents suggesting his birth was 1890 with his headstone dating his birth to 1891.
His WWI registration card dated January 5, 1917, says he is a basket maker by trade and served one year in the 77th Regiment under Captain White.
He was a fruit-grower by trade and kept a stamp and coin business as a sideline advertising in Philatelic West, The Numismatist, The Collectors’ Journal, MeKeel’s Weekly Stamp News,

In 1917, he became Metropolitan Philatelic Association member #1336
He joined the ANA in July 1917 and became ANA Member #1924.
He advertised in Philatelic West from 1917-1918
In 1919 he joined the Junior American Philatelic Society. He used Vahan Mozian of Ararat Stamp Co., and stamp dealer auctioneer, Max Ohlman as references.

In 1919 he assigned his collection to Henry Chapman to catalogue and sell at auction.

On December 3, 1921 he married 24 year old Sarah Berry a laundress. They had a daughter Sarah Berry (1897-1979).
In 1926 they had a son Weldon Baranabus Swayze, Jr (1926-1980).
In 1932, he lived at 58 Burgar, Welland, Ontario. He advertised in MeKeel’s Weekly Stamp News looking to buy whole collections.
At sometime he married Emma Whitwell who survived him by 5 years.
He died in 1965 at age 74.
He is buried in Swayze Cemetery, Glanbrook, Wenworth County, Ontario, Canada.
