Moritz Loewy (1857-1933), was born on July 25, 1857 at Vienna, Austria, son of Philip and Julia Loewy. He came to America with his family and became a naturalized citizen in 1879.
Loewy was a famous magician, ventriloquist, and collector of stamps and coins. He hailed himself Professor Moris Loewy and also worked as a fortune teller.
He married Mathilda. They had two sons : Alphonso Loewy, and Maurice Bernhard Loewy.
In 1890, he traveled the country as a professional magician, much like John Wyman.
In 1896, he was a member of the Staten Island Philatelic Society.
In 1904, he was a member of the Union Souvenir and Card Exchange.
In 1905, he ran for president of the Union Card Collectors Society.
He was a member of the New York Stamp Society.
He lived at 1251 Garden Street, Hoboken, New Jersey.
He was the president of the Spray Vibrator Corporation.
He died on August 25, 1933 at Woodcliff, New Jersey.
