Ephraim Bertie Jones (1868-1938), was born on February 25, 1868, at Washington Court House, Fayette County, Ohio, son of Benjamin Franklin Jones (1839-1906) and Mary Elizabeth Mark Jones (1846-1910). His family farm was in Concord.

In 1899, Jones was a postal clerk for the railway at Sioux City, Iowa.

He was a co-publisher of the Philatelic Inter-Ocean with John A. Cook.

On November 3, 1915, he married Adah Dell Foster at Sioux City, Iowa.

He died of peritonitis and diverticulitis at the Methodist Hospital six days before his 70th birthday, February 19, 1938.
