Encyclopedic Dictionary of Numismatic & Philatelic Biographies
INTRODUCTION
The Encyclopedic Dictionary of Numismatic & Philatelic Biographies : From the 7th Century BC to Today, by John N. Lupia, contains individual and corporate biographical sketches of various personalities and entities directly involved or affiliated in the field of numismatics, philatelics, and so forth, who lived from the earliest recorded historic times, and were active in the field up to the current day.
It was originally conceived to to embrace numismatic biographies of all times with the scope and depth of several million entries. On the practical side, since this is the work of only one person, the time-frame was originally limited to 1940 in order to be as large a database as possible of universal biographies. However, numismatic biographies from 1941 to the present are encountered from time to time in order to accommodate specific needs of our readership. This first occurred in 2011, when I was approached by the Numismatic Bibliomania Society to provide biographies catered to their specific needs.
The biographies contained in the database are important to numismatic and philatelic researchers and so are inclusive of corporate bodies and individuals who were occupied or associated as :
