Presenting the Queen of Half Cent Errors

The more you study this piece the more you become aware that the hole doesn't even matter. The multiple bold and dramatic strikes of the figure of Liberty come to life, move, and rise! The faces transform into a cubist portrait à la Picasso. A charming and amusing piece offering countless hours of fun on a rare unique gem. The actual coin appears cleaner and more appealing in the copper. Better photos are forthcoming.

WELCOME TO THE NUMISMATIC MALL -

THE FIRST PHILATELIC-NUMISMATIC WEBSITE

Thus says the Lord: Do not let the wise boast in their wisdom, do not let the mighty boast in their might, do not let the wealthy boast in their wealth; but let those who boast boast in this, that they understand and know me, that I am the Lord; I act with steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the Lord.

Jeremiah 9:23-24

NumismaticMall.com was created by John N. Lupia, III in 2011 to promote global and American cultural heritage through the study of philatelics and its subdivision numismatics in the fields of stamp and coin collecting and its industry. Bringing new life to America's past.

This website features The Encyclopedic Dictionary of Numismatic Biographies created by John N. Lupia, III about 1990. It contains thousands of entries in the original manuscript. Only about three hundred and fifty or so have been extracted and posted on this website so far. The original design of the work is a multivolume Encyclopedic Dictionary of Numismatic Biographies, designed as a reference tool for numismatists and researchers in various fields including : historians, archaeologists, art historians, museum curators, librarians, antique dealers, and so on. The title is borrowed from Howard Lawrence Hurwitz, An Encyclopedic Dictionary of American History (New York : Washington Square Press, 1968). Each biography is typically illustrated with items in the Lupia Philatelic and Numismatic Library. When the reader spots an item labeled "Courtesy Lupia Numismatic Library" it is owned by John N. Lupia, III, and can be purchased by contacting him at john@numismaticmall.com. Please Note, not all items in the Lupia Numismatic Library are exhaustively used to illustrate these articles. Many other items are in the Lupia Collection not shown here and everything is for sale. So, if you do not see it ask. The Lupia Philatelic and Numismatic Library has well over 50,000 philatelic covers rich in postal history and the majority, i.e., at least 30,000 covers are of numismatic and philatelic history involving dealers and collectors. The value of these items have a very broad range from $35 to $60,000. Do not hesitate to ask if you are searching for something in particular.

Note on some of the descriptors : For example, "Excessively rare" is neither a comical nor a redundant expression, but aims to refine for the astute collector or connoisseur the degree or rarity within a specific field. Mathematically expressed and phrased it is what the astute call "Relative Rarity". Rarity is a subject of which I can write a book since it certainly would take a monograph to teach the myriad of principles that come into play.
