Edward Kunckle Tryon, Jr. (1844-1904), was born on April 14, 1844, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of Edward Kunckle Tryon (1815-1892), and Adeline Catherine Savitz Tryon.
The family business of sporting goods, guns, and shells, began in 1811 by Edward K. Tryon, Jr.'s grandfather George W. Tryon. In 1836 the company name was changed to Tryon & Son, with George W. Tryon, Jr. joining the firm. In 1841, the name changed again to Edward K. Tryon & Company, when George W. Tryon retired.
In 1865, George W. Tryon, Jr., was a well-known seashell collector and published the American Journal of Conchology.
In 1868, the firm's name was changed to Edward K. Tryon, Jr. & Company upon the retirement of George W.Tryon, Jr.
He married Mary Adelaide Zimmerling (1845-1921). They had two children Florence Arline Tryon (1869-1932), and Charles Zimmerling Tryon (1871-1935)

He died on September 19, 1904. He is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His estate was valued at $150,000 at his death.
