Copyright 2000-2020 John N. J. Lupia, T. O. C. Harland Debenham Munger (1887-), was born on May 8, 1887, at Geneva, New York, son of Walter A. Munger (1865-1924), and Mary A. Debenham (1862-1926). He graduated the Corning Free Academy. He graduated Colgate University. H. D. Munger, was a philatelist and philatelic publisher at 186 Cedar Street, Corning, New York. In 1902, he founded the Metropolitan Philatelic Association (M.P.A.) He was A.P.A. Member No. 1949 Munger published a philatelic magazine called Metropolis from September 1903- June 1904. From 1902- 1908, he was the president of the Metropolitan Philatelic Association (M.P.A.) In 1907, he was the Assistant Claim Agent for the Utica and Mohawk Valley Railway (U & MV Railway), Utica, New York. "The Story of the M. P. A. and Some of its Officers and Leaders," Redfield's Stamp Weekly, Vol. 2, No. 9, February 15, (1908) : 1-3; 22-24. In 1910, he was the secretary and office manger of the Munger Candy Company, Corning, New York. In 1918, he married Gertrude Violet Atkinson (1896-) and had a daughter Gertrude (1924-), and a son William (1919-). Later he moved to 40 Glenwood Boulevard, Schenectady, New York, and worked in the General Claim Department for General Electric Company.
